This slideshow highlights some of the collaborative art events, anti-racism facilitations, environmental justice work, and work with young leaders that Brooks Frederick has undertaken over the years.
Brooks believes that intentional, creative communities can allow us to reach across differences of age, race, ideology, class, orientation, gender, and ability. When facilitated thoughtfully, the act of creation can be a starting place to disrupt oppressive forces, both internal and external.
His facilitations are deeply informed by the principles of U.E.R. (United to End Racism), a group that works toward personal and collective healing from patterns of domination and supremacy. He holds the perspective that ALL humans are born with the desire for closeness toward all other humans. Later in life, through no fault of our own, we learn to accept societal divisions. Because these divisions are learned, they can be unlearned. Intentional, creative communities can offer healing.
